Tayira is a small continent completely surrounded by the Crimson Sea. Its sky is lit by two suns - Hel, the small red sun; and Ai, the biggest of the two that shines a bright yellow light. During the night, the moon of Lyra keeps the sky company.
Due to the existence of the two stars, Hel and Ai move in strange patterns. Additionally, during the summer, there is a night where Hel doesn't set; different cultures celebrate and fear this day, known as Day Unending.
The western side of Tayira is home to the kingdom of Erberos (ruled by King Johann Erberos and his family), crowned by the Gods themselves, which granted them powers such as immortality. On the eastern side of the continent there exists a huge mountain range called the Melting Peaks, home of the black dragon Gyrvoith. There are no Erberos settlements east of the Melting Peaks, with the inhabitants of these lands (considered too dangerous by the kingdom) acting outside of Erberos rule.
Although there are many settlements, kingdoms, and other types of civilization throughout Tayira, most of its land remains untamed. Large cities usually have walls to protect them from wandering creatures, and smaller ones are usually close by, should help be necessary.
Monster hunters are quite common, employed to slay the creatures that stay behind after the Crimson Mists encroach upon the land, or that have made a home too close to the larger populace.
Tayira is home to many creatures of all types, from elementals and dragons to displacer beasts and ankhegs. Some have come from different planes, while others might have existed even before the Gods created humanoids. When it comes to these, the most common ancestries throughout Tayiran settlements are Human, Elven, Half-Elven, Dwarvish, Gnomish, and Halfling. However, other ancestries are still represented in smaller numbers.
